Hybrid Training Approach
 
Programme Overview
This professional training equips midwives, nurses, public health nurses, Geriatric nurses and mental health nurses with the knowledge and practical skills to integrate mindfulness into their clinical practice. The course provides both personal mindfulness training and teaching strategies to support patients/clients in managing stress, anxiety, and overall well-being.
 
Format: Hybrid (Online + In-person) Training hours- 18 hours

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:
 
    1. Understand the foundations of mindfulness and its evidence-based benefits in healthcare.
    2.       
    3. Develop their own personal mindfulness and meditation practice.
    4.       
    5. Apply mindfulness skills in professional practice to manage personal stress and enhance patient interactions.
    6.       
    7. Teach patients simple, accessible mindfulness and breathing techniques for stress and anxiety reduction.
    8.       
    9. Confidently integrate short mindfulness interventions into routine care across nursing and midwifery settings.

    Session 1:  Introduction to Mindfulness

    • 10:15 – What is Mindfulness? Definitions & healthcare applications
    • 10:45 – Evidence-based benefits for stress, anxiety & wellbeing
    • 11:15 – Break
    • 11:30 – Guided practice: Body scan meditation
    • 12:00 – Mindful breathing & reflection
    • 12:30 – Group discussion & Q&A
    • 12:55 – Homework briefing: 10 minutes daily mindfulness practice
     
    Session 2: Understanding Thoughts and Emotions
    Thursday, 5 March 2026:
    • 10:00 – Check-in & reflections on homework practice
    • 10:15 – The nature of thoughts and their role in stress/anxiety
    • 10:45 – Cognitive reactivity & mindfulness as intervention
    • 11:15 – Break
    • 11:30 – Guided practice: Noticing thoughts meditation
    • 12:00 – Strategies for stress management in nursing practice
    • 12:30 – Group reflection & journaling exercise
    • 12:55 – Homework briefing: mindful journaling & mindful pauses
     
    Session 3: Building Your Own Practice

    • 12:30 – Practical strategies for building consistency

    Session 4: Teaching Mindfulness to Patients
