Description
This programme focuses on the professional, legal and best practice requirements for safe and effective medication management for older people at all stages of the medication management cycle. Medication management is a fundamental activity of nursing, which carries important responsibilities in terms of promoting both the efficacy and safety of meeting residents’ medication needs. Recent regulatory documents emphasise additional responsibilities of nurses in safeguarding residents’ rights in the medication management cycle. These include the right to make autonomous decisions, which place additional responsibilities on nurses to ensure that residents are supported in decision making.
